Event Details

Conservative all ceramic preparations for veneers, crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays.

This is a hands on course coupled with live and pre-recorded patient procedures to teach you how to gain maximum benefit from today’s ceramic materials.

The outcome for the course is to provide safe conservative tooth preparation so that you can use today’s most aesthetic ceramic materials and achieve great results which your patients will be proud to show their friends.

Topics include

The course will cover aspects of preparation design, including biomechanics and methods for stable enamel/dentine bonding. We will be looking at and preparing veneers, all-ceramic crowns, minimal and conventional bridges, inlays and onlays on phantom heads

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn how to minimize tooth reduction during preparation and to maximize ceramic fracture resistance and aesthetics by prep and restoration design.

  • Dr Alan Broughton

    Dr Alan Broughton

    BDS (Adel), MDS (Prosth) (Adel)

    Alan Broughton received his BDS from the University of Adelaide in 1978. Following a period of employment with the SA Dental Service, Alan practised as a general dentist for some years in Victoria and New South Wales. He returned to study prosthodontics at the University of Adelaide and received his Master’s degree in 1989. Alan began prosthodontic practice shortly thereafter and has maintained a private specialist practice since then. Alan received his RACDS fellowship in 1985 and has been an examiner with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons in the final fellowship examinations for 15 years. Alan has held various teaching and examination posts with the University of Sydney, Charles Sturt University and the University of Adelaide. Currently, Alan is a visiting tutor in the specialist restorative unit at the Adelaide Dental Hospital while maintaining his specialist referral practice. Alan was scientific chair for the Australasian Osseointegration.

    Professor Jim Ironside

    Specialist in Prosthodontics

    Trained at the University of Adelaide and currently Professor in Prosthodontics at Charles Stuart University, Professor Ironside is a registered Specialist in Prosthodontics with a passion for high quality dental care. He is also very enthusiastic about teaching and research in dental ceramics. His emphasis is on fixed prosthodontics, implants and TMJ dysfunction. He is committed to encouraging his dental colleagues to use microscopy in their daily practice to allow them to deliver better treatment outcomes for their patients.
