    Prof Tony Pogrel

    Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon

    Professor Tony Pogrel received his dental degree in 1967 from Liverpool University in England and his medical degree from Aberdeen University in Scotland in 1974. He then received further general surgery training and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training in Great Britain, Holland and Miami, Florida. In 1979, he was appointed consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Peterborough and Cambridge in England and since 1983, has been on the full-time faculty of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a former chairman of the department and is currently a professor. Dr. Pogrel holds both medical and dental licenses in California and is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International and American Associations of Dental Research and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.Dr. Pogrel has more than 200 publications in the literature on a variety of topics and is a frequent presenter at specialty meetings nationally and internationally
