    Dr Alcaino is a specialist paediatric dentist currently working in private practice, a past president of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD), a lecturer nationally and internationally, and involved in continuing education at a post-graduate and graduate level. He has over 10 years of board of directors’ experience with the IAPD. He has served in many roles with many professional organizations. Clinically, his passion is the topic of paediatric sedation, restorative care of young children and the business aspects of paediatric dentistry. Currently he is completing a Masters of International Business/Law at The University of Sydney, which will further diversify his overseas commitments. Dr Alcaino was born in Santiago, Chile, where he started his university training in dentistry; therefore besides English he is fluent in Spanish language. He then moved to Sydney, Australia in 1983 where he continued his studies. After completing his Bachelor degree with honours (BDS-Hons) at the University of Sydney, he worked in general dental practice for eight years and has been involved in teaching since graduation. He has worked in specialist paediatric private practice since 1999. Dr Alcaino is a Clinical Associate Lecturer with the University of Sydney, a visiting specialist to the Westmead Centre for Oral Health (WCOH) in NSW and specialist dentist at the City West Specialist Day Hospital. He gained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS- restorative dentistry) in 1992 and Membership in 2011 (MRACDS- Paediatric Dentistry). His most researched area in dentistry is paediatric sedation. After completing his thesis in general anaesthesia and further training in conscious sedation, he has lectured extensively on local anaesthesia, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia. He is a regular speaker at international congresses, has lectured annually at Harvard Continuing Education courses in the USA, and has organized many international and national events on this topic. Dr Alcaino’s experience with the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry has resulted in a vast network of colleagues and contacts worldwide. This experience has allowed him to travel around the world continuously, visit many teaching institutions and attended many courses either in Australia and overseas; and has experienced first hand how children are treated in different environments and cultures. He provides financial support to paediatric dentists presenting new research at international meetings. Many overseas dentists visit our private practice (Sydney Paediatric Dentistry P/L) for exchange and continued learning in a clinical setting. He has been involved with several IAPD committees; he is a past president of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD- NSW Branch) and a past Secretary/Treasurer of the IAPD congress held in Sydney in 2005. He is married, has grown twin daughters, two Labradors and likes soccer, fitness, fine dining and travelling.

    Dr Geoffrey Hall completed his dental training at the University of Melbourne in 1983, and then pursued his postgraduate orthodontic training at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. While he had mixed results with his undergraduate dental education, he found his passion in orthodontics, coming first in his class at the University of Pennsylvania. ​ That passion led him to open his successful practice at South Caulfield in Melbourne, where he specialised iin adult and children treatments including early treatment, conventional adolescent therapy, short-term orthodontics (Smilefast) and cosmetic treatment options including lingual braces, Invisalign and other aligner systems, and a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary treatment, including orthognathic surgical cases. . Over 28 years in practice and 10,000 orthodontic cases later, he has now dedicated himself to being the leading orthodontic educator for General Dentists, through The OrthoED Institute. ​ Having developed the short term cosmetic orthodontic treatment called Smilefast, (with over 500 dentists having completed their training in Australia) the success is based around the unique digital indirect bonding system, the comprehensive theory, formulated from sound orthodontic principles and pre-course material.     Dr Jeffrey Kho graduated from the University of Queensland with Honors in 2005. He has over 10 years experience with clear aligners. Dr Kho is one of Clearcorrect Australia’s National Trainers and regularly trains dentists both nationally and internationally on its use. Jeff has been a clinical supervisor for the UQ School of Dentistry, and lecturer at both Griffith and James Cook Universities. He serves as a Key Opinion Leader and clinical advisor for several different companies and finds the time to multiple private practices in Brisbane.

  • Dr Mehdi Rahimi

    Dr Mehdi Rahimi

    Dr Rahimi is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Charles Sturt University (Orange). Mehdi graduated with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery with distinction from the University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2002 and received his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Endo) degree from the University of Melbourne in 2008. Mehdi has been actively involved in Endodontic teaching at various continued education levels, both nationally and internationally. Mehdi is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, a guest lecturer at Sydney University and Melbourne University, and a CPD mentor for the Australian Dental Association NSW. Mehdi has obtained a number of publications in the field of forensic dentistry and Endodontics (resin based obturation material and fractured instruments). In 2000 Mehdi was awarded the Sir Allan Wilkinson award for the most worthwhile research in Medicine and Dentistry from the University of Otago, in 2001 he was awarded the International Association for Dental Research Young Researchers Award and in 2002 Mehdi received the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award of Merit. Mehdi is the current President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (NSW branch), the immediate past-president of the Australian Asian Association of Dentists, a fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD), a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, a member of the Australian Dental Association (NSW) Education & Research Committee, a member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons in Endodontics, and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists.

    Dr Wendy Gill graduated from UWA in 1994 and spent 9 years in general practice before completing her Masters Degree in Periodontology in 2006. Wendy obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Perio) in the same year and now maintains a specialist periodontal practice in West Perth. She is a previous president of the Australian Society of Periodontology (WA), a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, AOS member and member of numerous dental groups.     Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2008. He was on the Deans Honours List and winner of the Ernest Joske Prize in final year dentistry. He worked in private practice for three years before beginning specialist training, graduating with the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in 2014 from the University of Melbourne and being awarded the Ephraim Ehrmann Memorial Prize.     Dr. Raymond Bertolotti

    DDS, PHD

    Dr. Bertolotti received his DDS degree from the University of California, San Francisco, after working as a PhD metallurgical and ceramic engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. He is currently a Clinical Professor in Biomaterials Science at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition to authoring four dental textbook chapters, Dr. Bertolotti has published extensively in journals such as the American Dental Association, International Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Dental Research and Quintessence International. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Materials, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and an Accredited Member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Bertolotti is a well known international lecturer, having presented at all of the major dental meetings such as the ADA, Hinman, Chicago Midwinter and invited lectures in over 30 countries.
