Event Details

The multifactorial nature of temporomandibular dysfunction has caused much confusion about this condition in the past. This new course brings together several different specialists to present a multidisciplinary approach, as the optimum way to diagnose and manage TMD. Many of the myths surrounding TMD will be discussed, as well has the current thinking, regarding aetiology and effective treatments. During the hands-on session, occlusal splint designs and conservative, non-surgical techniques appropriate for use in general practice, will be demonstrated.

    Dr George Dimitroulis

    Dr George Dimitroulis surgical practice since 1995. After graduating from the University of Melbourne, George pursued postgraduate surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital before venturing off to England with clinical attachments to St.Mary’s Hospital in London as well as Middlesbrough General Hospital in Northern England. George completed his training as a Clinical & Research Fellow at the University of Florida in the United States before returning to Melbourne to set up specialist practice in Collins Street. George is the Senior Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne where he runs Fellowship programs in advanced TMJ surgery for graduate Surgeons. He is on the editorial board of numerous Journals including the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery where he is Section Chairman for TMJ surgery. He has published extensively in the international literature and is the author of six books in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is highly sought after as a keynote speaker both nationally and internationally for his specialised skills and experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Clinical Research. Australia’s first 3-D printed TMJ implant that was featured in the Australian media in June 2015 was created by George.

    Dr Graham Woolley worked in general dental practice for over 10 years before commencing his training as a specialist prosthodontist. He obtained a Master of Dental Science Degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Melbourne School of Dental Science in 2003. Since then, Dr Woolley has worked in specialist private practice, as a consultant for the Australian Defence Force in Victoria and as a Senior Lecturer at the Melbourne School of Dental Science where he was twice awarded the Eggleston Trust Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

    Dr Michael Stubbs

    Oral medicine specialist

    Dr Michael Stubbs has trained as a dentist and then specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with facial or jaw pain that is not derived from the teeth. Dr Stubbs also diagnoses and manages any disorder or disease involving the mouth or jaws and sleep apnoea/snoring disorders with the use of custom made dental devices and is also an Associate Professor in Oral Medicine at LaTrobe University.     Mr Darron Goralsky has 24 years experience treating TMJ disorder, face and neck related conditions. His qualifications include a post graduate certification in manipulative therapy as well as craniosacral therapy. Darron has attended many post graduate courses and has travelled internationally to spend time with leading TMJ experts. Darron regularly attends local and international conferences on Temporomandibular Disorders and Oro-facial Pain. He has presented talks to Dental Special Interest Groups, Physiotherapy Groups and to both Dental and Medical Practitioners. Darron is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), the Australian Branch of The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) and a member of the Australia New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain (ANZAOP).
