This lecture is designed for dentists and their dental teams.
The course aims to assist the practitioner and/or assistant to master the skills required to efficiently scrub-in, drape, assist or perform surgery in a safe and appropriately sterile environment.
The infection control requirements for oral surgical procedures including:
- surgical hand antisepsis
- correct donning technique of sterile gowns and gloves
- identification and placement of appropriate sterile drapes
- sterile instruments
- managing sterile field
The course will address principles of sterile aseptic technique which must be applied to all surgical procedures undertaken in the dental practice.
- Surgical set-up
- Clean vs Sterile
- Correct hand scrubbing techniques
- Optimal sterilisation and wrapping of surgical instruments
- Sharps and biological waste control
- For individual practices to implement these sterile surgical procedures.
