Registration is now open for the upcoming South Coast Division Meeting! Join us on Thursday 17 June for Dr Sue-Ching-Yeoh and Dr James Wykes’s intriguing discussion.
Soft tissue screening should be a component of every dental examination. This presentation will provide practical tips for performing a comprehensive head and neck examination. We will also discuss potentially malignant disorders and malignancy of the oral mucosa; common clinical features, and management.

Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon
Dr James Wykes James Wykes is a consultant Head and Neck Surgeon working at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, The Wollongong Hospital, Wollongong Private Hospital and Bankstown Hospital.
He completed his medical degree at UNSW in 2005 and then pursued General Surgical training in Sydney, gaining his FRACS in 2012. He undertook a year of fellowship in Head and Neck and Endocrine Surgery at Liverpool Hospital in 2013 followed by a clinical fellowship at the Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute in 2014 based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. After working as a locum consultant in Head and Neck Surgery at Liverpool Hospital in 2015, he underwent a final year of fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St George’s Hospital in London, UK, focusing on head and neck oncology but also including facial trauma and deformity surgery.
His clinical practice encompasses the treatment of cutaneous and mucosal tumours of the head and neck as well as both benign and malignant disease of the salivary glands, thyroid and parathyroid glands. His practice also includes microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck.
His research interests include clinical research in advanced cutaneous and mucosal malignancy of the head and neck, microvascular reconstructive surgery of the head and neck as well as thyroid and salivary gland cancer.

Dr Sue-Ching Yeoh Sue is an Oral Medicine Specialist, and maintains a specialist private practice Sydney. She has appointments at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Sue is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (General and Special Fields Stream); and the International College of Dentists. She is the President-Elect of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia. Sue is a member of the ADA Therapeutics Committee and has contributed to the Therapeutic Guidelines: Oral and Dental V3 (2019).
