An update in effective Periodontal Treatment

A practical guide for dentists to identify and treat patients with Periodontal Disease. The Australian and NZ Academy of Periodontists (NSW branch) are pleased to present this clinically oriented course. The most current aspects of clinical Periodontal treatment will be covered enabling the general Dentist to better understand and treat patients with Periodontal problems.

A unique opportunity to be exposed and learn from experienced Periodontists who are members of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology. This course is aimed at improving clinical skills to enable Periodontal treatment for General Dentists.

    Associate Professor Axel Spahr

    A/Prof. Spahr is the former Head of Periodontics at the University of Ulm in Germany and has worked at various international universities and research facilities. He has a further training in microbiology and molecular biology and extensive experience in basic science research, animal research and clinical research. A/Prof. Spahr?s research interest includes periodontal regeneration, bone regeneration, periodontitis and systemic diseases as well as antimicrobial therapy.He has lead large externally funded research projects and is collaborating with leading international research groups and companies in the field of periodontology, implantology and bone regeneration. He is author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed dental and medical journals and has presented his work on professional conferences worldwide

    Associate Professor Stephen Yeung

    Specialist Periodontist

    AProf Stephen Yeung Stephen Yeung received his specialty training in Periodontics at the University of Adelaide and research training in mucosal immunology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Newcastle. He has been in specialist practice for over 20 years, and has been associated with the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney since 1986. Professor Yeung has lectured locally, interstate and overseas, published extensively in scientific and professional journals and was winner of the Ray Williams Research prize in 1998.

    He is a past Federal president of the Australian Osseointegration Society, and Australian Society of Periodontology and a current member of numerous professional societies and organisations.

    Dr Kevin Todes is currently in full time specialist practice in Sydney and has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of Periodontal Plastic Surgery, Implant Dentistry and Oral Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the special field of Periodontics, a member of the ADA, Australian Society of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration.

  • Dr Nirushan Raveendiran

    Dr Nirushan Raveendiran

    Specialist Periodontist

    Born and raised in Sydney, Nirushan completed his undergraduate training in Queensland, before returning to commence private practice in Sydney, spending numerous years working in both the CBD and Castle Hill. Having always had a keen in interest in Periodontics, Nirushan went on to pursue specialty training at the University of Melbourne in 2014, graduating with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics).

    Nirushan has published numerous articles focused on periodontal pathogens, occlusal issues in periodontitis and implants, and bone grafts/ridge preservation

    Nirushan carries out all aspects of periodontal management, and has a particular interest in the management of anxious patients as well as dental implants, and hard and soft tissue grafting.

    Nirushan is also a member of numerous professional associations: Australian Dental Association (ADA), International team for implantology (ITI), Australian and New Zealand.

  • Dr Rajiv Verma

    Dr Rajiv Verma

    Specialist Periodontist

    Dr Rajiv Verma is in specialist periodontal practice in Hornsby, Sydney. He is the President of ASP NSW branch and is also involved with teaching the final year dental students at Sydney University.

    Dr Verma obtained his specialist qualification in Periodontics in 2008 from University of Otago and has over twenty years of clinical experience in dentistry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons both in the General Stream and in the Division of Periodontics and a member of numerous professional organisations (ANZAP, ITI, ASP, AOMSI).

    His interests are in plastic and regenerative periodontal procedures as well as in treatment of peri-implantitis. He has presented many lectures and continuing education courses in periodontology locally and internationally.

    Dr Wendy Yu

    Specialist Periodontist

    Wendy completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Master of Dental Science in Periodontics at the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons. Wendy lectures for the University of Sydney and at various local study clubs and runs a well-established specialist periodontal practice in the CBD of Sydney.

  • Dr. Ehsan Mellati

    Dr. Ehsan Mellati

    Periodontist

    Ehsan is a periodontist in private practice in Sydney and founder of the state-of-the-art Precision Periodontics in Chatswood. His practice is restricted to periodontics and implant dentistry. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University and is also involved in mentorship at LaTrobe University and Charles Sturt University. Ehsan is the recipient of the prestigious ITI grant for his postgraduate thesis focusing on the healing of hard and soft tissues around immediate implants.

    He has published several articles in well-respected international journals and has been actively involved in presenting lectures, running CPD events, and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and overseas trained dentists. He is an active member of International Team for Implantology, Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Periodontology, and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists.
