This full day lecture will cover four areas:

New Classification and Pathogenesis of Periodontal Diseases
The aim of this presentation is to explain and guide through the new Periodontal Classification System. Furthermore, after the presentation of the new Staging & Grading tables to classify the different types of Periodontitis, the application of these tables will be further practised on more complex showcases.

Prevention, Non-Surgical Management and Maintenance of Periodontitis and Implant/Peri-implant Mucositis patients
This presentation outlines current and modern concepts of biofilm management for the patient’s home care as well as for the professional dental practice setting. The specific topics addressed in this presentation involve a comprehensive overview and evaluation of various oral hygiene methods and materials for mechanical and chemical biofilm management as well as of different devices available for subgingival debridement of root and implant surfaces.

Surgical Management of patients with Periodontitis and Gingival Recessions
The aim of this presentation is to describe the different surgical treatment options for patients with advanced periodontitis and mucogingival lesions/gingival recessions

New Classification of Peri-implant Diseases, Prognosis of Dental Implants and Management of Peri-Implantitis
This presentation outlines the new classification of peri-implant diseases, explains the current data regarding survival and success of dental implants compared to teeth and evaluates treatment options for implants with peri-implantitis.

    Associate Professor Axel Spahr

    A/Prof. Spahr is the former Head of Periodontics at the University of Ulm in Germany and has worked at various international universities and research facilities. He has a further training in microbiology and molecular biology and extensive experience in basic science research, animal research and clinical research. A/Prof. Spahr?s research interest includes periodontal regeneration, bone regeneration, periodontitis and systemic diseases as well as antimicrobial therapy.He has lead large externally funded research projects and is collaborating with leading international research groups and companies in the field of periodontology, implantology and bone regeneration. He is author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed dental and medical journals and has presented his work on professional conferences worldwide
