Patients present with seemingly a bewildering range of diseases and disorders of oral cavity and indeed the stomatognathic system, that is the TMJ’s, salivary glands, muscles, nerves and the lips. The aim of this course id to provide a straight-forward approach to recognition and diagnosis of the significant oral pathology such as oral cancer and potentially malignant oral disorders, painful oral conditions and an approach and guidance to complex oro-facial pain.

Mark Schifter is an A/Professor in Oral Medicine School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney. He obtained his specialist qualifications in Oral Medicine, also from the University of Sydney in 1998. He also holds Memberships (by examination) in Special Needs Dentistry and Oral Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburg and Fellowships in Oral Medicine (by examination) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (FFD RCSI (Oral Med) and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS (Oral Med). He is the current Convenor/Coordinator of the specialist-training program in Oral Medicine of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Sydney.Mark is a Staff Specialist in Oral Medicine, Department of Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Special Needs Dentistry at Westmead Hospital.
