This special online livestream of the upcoming MGRSG meeting on Wednesday 10 March will allow you to enjoy the same informative program as those in attendance. Four presenters will discuss 3D Dentistry: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly as it relates to endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics and OMS.

    Adj Assoc Prof Mehdi Rahimi

    Endodontist,BSc, BDS (Otago), DClinDent (Endo) (Melb), MRACDS

    Mehdi completed his Bachelor in Dental Surgery at the University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2002 and Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at the Univrsity of Melbourne in 2008. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Charles Sturt University, a guest lecturer at both the University of Sydney University and Melbourne University.

    Mehdi has published in the field of forensic dentistry and Endodontics. Mehdi was awarded the Sir Allan Wilkinson award for research in Medicine and Dentistry from the University of Otago, the Young Researchers Award by the International Association for Dental Researchand and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award of Merit. He is a CPD mentor for the Australian Dental Association (NSW branch), President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (NSW branch), past-president of the Australian Asian Association of Dentists, fellow of the International College of Dentists, a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, member of the Australian Dental Association (NSW) Education & Research Committee, member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons in Endodontics, and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists.

    Dr Daniel Selim

    Dental Surgeon

    Dr Daniel Selim graduated as a Dental Surgeon in 2009 before training as an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist at the Brisbane Dental Hospital, Herston (University of Queensland). His training included rotations at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, visits to Holy Spirit Northside hospital, as well as rotations to several private radiology practices in Brisbane and Perth.

    He has lectured to Queensland Health, and at the University of Queensland, and was actively involved in the teaching of undergraduate dentistry students.

    Dr Selim is a Member of the Royal Australiasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS) in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology and is currently the only registered Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist based in the state of NSW

    Dr Travis enjoys developing and maintaining long-term professional relationships with his patients. Stephen is a well-respected prosthodontist in Sydney and has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist, and his restorative work is of the highest standard.

    With a passion for finding the best solutions for dental issues, his prosthodontic interests lie in comprehensive treatment planning for complex dental restorative cases, digital dentistry, ceramic materials and craniomandibular dysfunction. Problem solving is rewarding—never feels like he’s doing the same thing over and over again.

    Stephen is frequently requested to present his clinical work at lectures both nationally and internationally, and he is a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Sydney of which he is an Alumnus.

    Professor M Ali Darendeliler

    Professor M. Ali Darendeliler is a professor of Orthodontics. He is an orthodontist, academic and internationally renowned researcher leading a multifaceted research program in orthodontics. His team investigates the mechanics of tooth movement, the effect of orthodontic therapy on biological tissues and root resorption, multidisciplinary management of obstructive sleep apnoea including the use of mandibular advancement splints, temporary anchorage devices, jaw orthopaedics, accelerated tooth movement, bone healing and alveolar ridge development, dental implants, and the use of magnets and magnetic fields in orthodontics.

    Professor Darendeliler is a recipient of the Australian Society of Orthodontists’ Distinguished Service Award (2008) and P. Raymond Begg Award (2012) for significant contribution to Research (one of only five awarded since the ASO was founded). He is the first Australian to receive the Sheldon Friel Memorial Lecture Award, the highest honour of the European Orthodontic Society, awarded for his significant scientific contribution to orthodontics. He was one of the nine experts worldwide selected to develop international guidelines for postgraduate orthodontic education and has helped develop guidelines for the use of oral appliance therapy in sleep apnoea.
