Event Details

Each module will be a day of face-to-face tuition and will take you through the topic intensively. The lectures will be interspersed with case reports.

You will be encouraged to bring your own cases and together we will establish a problem list, run through the diagnosis, and try to arrive at a treatment plan or plans.
Then we will evaluate the Clincheck simulation and improve it.

There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions. Between each of the monthly sessions, further internet discussion can take place amongst participants.

MODULE 1

  • The Methodology of the 1st appointment.
  • What you must discover while your patient is in the chair, beyond the X-rays, photographs and study models, and write into your clinical notes. This is not only essential for diagnosis but also for practicing defensively.
  • Record taking: Photography – taking photographs that will do you proud.
  • Interpreting the radiographs. The significance of the mandibular plane angle – dolichofacial, brachyfacial. Lower incisor proclination, adenoids.
  • Methodology of diagnosis and treatment planning: establishing a problem list leading to a differential diagnosis. What are the appliances’ capabilities? Movement limits and defaults. Marrying the problem to the appliances’ capabilities.
  • Case selection. Class I dental and skeletal problems.
  • Smile evaluation.
  • Attachments – types, aligner force systems. Which is the most applicable in each situation.
  • Some basic biomechanics.  Diagnosing the records of cases you have brought to the course and if you have submitted these cases, working through their ClinCheck simulations together.

    Specialist Orthodontist

Morris Rapaport first graduated in 1976 and then obtained a MDSc in Orthodontics from the University of Sydney in 1980. He is in specialist orthodontic practice, is a part time lecturer at The University of Sydney and is an Invisalign Platinum Provider. He has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for decades and has lectured nationally and internationally.

After receiving an award for “outstanding presentation and treatment” of a case he began treating in 1991 with the then new Clark Twin Blocks, he published a paper in the Australian Orthodontic Journal (March 1998) demonstrating the application of the Bass Aesthetic Analysis in functional appliance diagnosis.

Morris is well known for his ability to simplify complex issues and presents them using liberal doses of humour to make lectures not only highly accessible, but enjoyable and memorable.
