This course is divided into 4 modules addressing the most common applications of aesthetic soft tissue Periodontal surgery. Didactic instruction and hands on demonstrations will supplement live surgeries.
This is a hands on course that will appeal to any practitioner interested in improving their soft tissue handling skills. Tuition will be given by Periodontists experienced in Periodontal surgical techniques.
Numbers will be limited to 20 candidates to ensure personalised teaching outcomes.
Module 1: Fundamentals of Periodontal Microsurgery
Friday 20th March 2020
This is an introduction to the concept of Periodontal microsurgery and the reasons for the microsurgical approach and wound healing. Microsurgery instruments and incision design will be discussed. This will be reinforced with a hands on exercise on pigs jaws as well as a live patient surgery.
Module 2: Aesthetic and functional Crown Lengthening
Friday 1st May 2020
This module will cover the indications and limitations of crown lengthening procedures. The theory behind surgical crown lengthening will be reinforced with hands on exercises and live patient surgery.
Module 3: Surgical techniques for grafting of recession defects.
Friday 28th August 2020
Treatment of gingival recession remains a technique sensitive procedure. The diagnosis of the different types of recession as well as the limitations of treatment with different grafting materials will be covered and reinforced with a live patient surgery.
Module 4: Surgical techniques for implants in the “aesthetic zone”
Friday 2nd October 2020
As implant placement is becoming more popular so too are the expectations of our patients particularly in the aesthetic zone. Soft tissue complications often effect the treatment outcome. This module will address the prevention of complications and how to achieve the maximum benefit from soft tissue augmentation procedures when implants are considered.
