iTero Element 5D NIRI Technology: Maximum versatility beyond digital impressions and caries detection

Event Details

Abstract

Understand the technology behind the iTero Element 5D
1.    Starting with data acquisition
2.    Followed by data leveraging and planning
3.    And finally with the production.

Data acquisition is the very first step of the workflow and could be done with many different technologies. The aim is to transform the patient’s information into a digital form in order to use them for further steps, such as analysis, virtual planning and processing. Some of the technologies are represented by digital charting, intraoral scanners, digital radiography and photography, video recording and many more.

Intraoral scanning and three-dimensional (3D) analysis allow patients’ oral conditions to be easily recorded over time, making it a powerful alternative for patient monitoring. iTero Element 5D, the latest generation scanner from Align Technology, has the capacity to detect interproximal caries within one scan. This is defined as near-infrared imaging technology (NIRI) that serves as a valuable diagnostic aid in the early detection of interproximal caries.

Technology can have a positive impact on patient experience, clinic procedures, and financial returns. The advantages and disadvantages of the methods outlined will be evaluated and analysed on the basis of existing literature and personal experience.

Key Learning Objectives
1.    Understand the technology behind the iTero Element 5D
2.    Overview of the benefits and applications of the NIRI Technology
3.    Clinical guidelines of the NIRI Technology: utilisation scenarios where this technology is most powerful
4.    How to incorporate the iTero Element 5D scanner in your everyday clinic routine
