Convened by Dr Alan Yap, this comprehensive hands-on 1-day program covers the restoration of short spans with implant-borne fixed dental prostheses. Practitioners are trained in the planning and restoration of straightforward to advanced cases for both posterior and anterior short spans. All mainstream implant systems are taught, and this course is not sponsored. Hands-on sessions are performed on AstraTech, Nobel Biocare, Southern Implants and Straumann componentry.

    Dr Alan Yap

    Convenor: Porcelain Veneers, Implant Prosthodontics 1& Implant Prosthodontics 2 Alan completed the Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Master of Dental Science in Prosthodontics with Honours, at the University of Sydney. He was awarded the ITI Scholarship to attend the Department of Periodontics at the University of North Carolina. Alan was awarded Membership to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the ITI, and Member of the Education and Research Committee of the Australian Prosthodontic Society. He served as a Federal Executive of the Australian Prosthodontic Society, Member of the Planning Committee of Continuing Education in Dentistry at the University of Sydney, and Member of the Executive Committee of the Australasian Osseointegration Society. Alan holds the title of Honorary Clinical Lecturer for the University of Sydney. He was a mentor for the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants) program at the University of Sydney and mentor for the Postgraduate Diploma of Dental Implantology at Charles Sturt University. Alan is a lecturer and examiner in Prosthodontics for final year dental students at the University of Sydney. He is a registered speaker for the ITI and lectures locally and internationally. He has publications in the International Journal of Prosthodontics and the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants. He is a reviewer for the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants and is a contributor to the textbook "Oral Rehabilitation: A Case-Based Approach.”

    Ken is a dental specialist with dual qualification in prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Clinical services in his Miranda and Sydney private practices comprise all facets of prosthodontics including implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. His professional career spans 26 years and has included roles in general and specialist private practice in Sydney CBD, metropolitan and NSW regional locations. He has also held public and private hospital appointments. Between 2005-19, he held multiple roles within Sydney Dental School (undergraduate, postgraduate implants and prosthodontic programs, and professional education), Charles Sturt University and James Cook University (postgraduate implant programs). He is is an Executive Member of the Scientific and Continuing Professional Development Committee, Academy of Australia and New Zealand Prosthodontists (2016-), is Past Federal President of the Australian Prosthodontic Society (2013-15), and previously held executive membership with Continuing Education in Dentistry, Sydney Dental School (2011-19), including a five year term as its final Chair.

    With broad international experience, Peter has been in dental practice for over 20 years. He has practiced in the UK, where he undertook postgraduate restorative training at the renowned Eastman Dental Hospital, then worked in Vietnam and New Zealand before emigrating to Australia in 2004 to train as a Specialist Prosthodontist in Sydney. Peter has developed a rare understanding of both the potential of traditional prosthodontics techniques and the value of the latest methods and materials. His particular focus is in assisting his patients to achieve what they desire from their dentitions, with modalities ranging from minimal intervention preventative strategies to enable long-term function through to high-end cosmetically optimal reconstructions. Dr Hell has a particular interest in Dental Implant Surgery, with a focus on surgery planned and executed to provide the optimal foundations for beautiful, functional replacement teeth. Dr Hell is active in the dental profession and is a regular invited speaker at dental meetings here and interstate. He is a former President of the Australian Prosthodontic Sociey (SA Branch) and has current membership with the: Australian Dental Association, Australian Osseointegration Society, Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

  • Dr Tuan Dao

    Dr Tuan Dao

    Specialist prosthodontist

    Dr Tuan Dao is a registered dental specialist in the field of Prosthodontics in New South Wales. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2003 receiving a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours. Dr Dao then worked in private practice in Sydney for two years. During this time, he undertook and passed the Primary Fellowship exams for the College of Dental Surgeons. In 2006 he was accepted by the University of Sydney to undertake three years full time postgraduate specialist training. During his training Dr Dao’s interest within the field of dentistry extended to complex patient care and complete oral rehabilitation. This cumulated in the receipt of the 2007 Young Prosthodontist Award from the International College of Prosthodontists.

    Dr Yvonne Vidovic

    Yvonne graduated from Sydney University in 1982 and returned to Canberra where she was in private practice until 1993. She completed her Masters degree in Prosthodontics in 1996 and joined a specialist Prosthodontic practice in St Leonards. She has enjoyed teaching dentists, graduates and undergraduates nationally and internationally and was one of the Australian Dental Association (NSW) Touring Lecturers in 2001. She is a visiting lecturer in the departments of Orthodontics and Prosthodontics at Sydney University. She was the Secretary, then President of the Australasian Osseointegration Society from 1999-2006. In 2006, she took a three month sabbatical at the University of Zurich focusing on implant aesthetics. At the same time she was able to spend several weeks in Lisbon, Portugal, focusing on implant-based rehabilitation of edentulous patients. This combination of skills has allowed Yvonne to excel in her area of interest, aesthetic and functional reconstruction of badly damaged dentitions.
