Course Outline:
This course will allow the participants the opportunity to extract a variety of teeth on Cadavers with an oral surgeon looking over their shoulders. This will enable the participant to ask questions during the procedure and for the oral surgeon offer tips and suggestions on extraction. There will be one head per two participants. Due to the nature of the course availability of teeth to be extracted will vary. The course focuses more on simple extractions rather than difficult surgical procedures.
The team of oral Surgeons participating in the Hands on Course will be headed by A/Prof Dieter Gebauer.
*Please note that this course will be carried out on human cadavers.

Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Associate Professor Dieter Gebauer is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with degrees in medicine and dentistry. He is also a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Dieter is currently Head of Department at Royal Perth Hospital and a consultant facial trauma surgeon. Dieter’s keen interest in facial trauma has taken him Illinois medical district in Chicago (the largest medical district in the world, hosting Cook County Hospital, The University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, The Veteran’s Affairs Hospital and The Rush Presbyterian Hospital) and Johannesburg General Hospital.
