Foundation Course on Aesthetic Implant Failures and Gingival Recession Management

Event Details

This 2-day hands-on course is designed for clinicians who would like to learn and incorporate soft tissue management into their daily practice. Basic surgical skills are a pre-requisite to the course. The didactic component starts with educating delegates on periodontal anatomy, fundamentals of wound healing and different types of soft tissue defects. It then proceeds with techniques to harvest grafts for different indications and explains alternatives to autogenous grafts. New and advanced techniques and indications for soft tissue grafting around implants will also be covered. Delegates will get to practice the techniques on pig jaws. Q & A session and breaks provide the opportunity to ask questions and get engaged in discussions.

    Dr Nirushan Raveendiran

    Born and raised in Sydney, Nirushan completed his undergraduate training in Queensland, before returning to commence private practice in Sydney, spending numerous years working in both the CBD and Castle Hill. Having always had a keen in interest in Periodontics, Nirushan went on to pursue specialty training at the University of Melbourne in 2014, graduating with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics).

    Nirushan has published numerous articles focused on periodontal pathogens, occlusal issues in periodontitis and implants, and bone grafts/ridge preservation

    Nirushan carries out all aspects of periodontal management, and has a particular interest in the management of anxious patients as well as dental implants, and hard and soft tissue grafting.

    Nirushan is also a member of numerous professional associations: Australian Dental Association (ADA), International team for implantology (ITI), Australian and New Zealand.

    Patrick has been a Periodontist for almost 30 years. He also teaches as a Senior Clinical lecturer at Sydney University . He is an examiner for the RACDS in the Specialist Stream (Periodontics), an examiner for the Diploma of Oral implants , for the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry program in Periodontics at Sydney University. He was the first Periodontist to present the use of CT graft in implant treatment, at the Inaugural Australasian Osseointegration Society meeting in Sydney in 1998. He has given over 100 presentations on Periodontics and Implant treatment in Australia and overseas,

    Tino is a Periodontist in full time private practice for almost 20 years in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland School of Dentistry and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney (Postgraduate Implant Course).
    He sits at the Council of Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP). He is a Periodontal Examiner at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). He is completing his PhD degree at Griffith University/University of Queensland looking at the role of biologically active materials in connective tissue graft for periodontal and peri-implant defects and management of peri-implantitis. His latest publications looked at clinical management of peri-implantitis and long-term stability of connective tissue graft on teeth and implants.

    Dr. Ehsan Mellati

    Periodontist

    Ehsan is a periodontist in private practice in Sydney and founder of the state-of-the-art Precision Periodontics in Chatswood. His practice is restricted to periodontics and implant dentistry. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University and is also involved in mentorship at LaTrobe University and Charles Sturt University. Ehsan is the recipient of the prestigious ITI grant for his postgraduate thesis focusing on the healing of hard and soft tissues around immediate implants.

    He has published several articles in well-respected international journals and has been actively involved in presenting lectures, running CPD events, and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and overseas trained dentists. He is an active member of International Team for Implantology, Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Periodontology, and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists.
