Course Overview
Dental trauma generally affects the incisor teeth, and most often in children. Injuries to these teeth impact on the smiles of those afflicted. The purpose of this presentation is to outline the pulpal and periodontal responses to dental trauma of the teeth and when treatment is required.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Correctly diagnosis and manage dental trauma
- Practically apply the IADT 2020 guidelines
- Review and manage root resorption following trauma

Dr Bill Kahler
Dr Bill Kahler
BDSc FRACDS MScDent DClinDent PhD MRACDS (Endo) FICD
Dr Kahler graduated from the University of Queensland dental school in 1983. Bill practised in private care all around Australia for a number of years before training for a clinical doctorate in Endodontics. He has an active interest in Endodontic research, publishing clinical research and case reports in dentistry, material science and engineering journals. He teaches and lectures locally and internationally, and acts as a reviewer for a number of leading dental journals. Bill has received a number of Fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the International College of Dentists. He has taught at the University of Adelaide and the University of Queensland, where he acted as Director of the Post-Graduate Programme. In addition to his private practice, Bill works at a specialist paediatric government clinic as an Endodontic Consultant. In his spare time, Bill enjoys relaxing with his family, travel, food and skiing.
