Course Outline
For many of us General Practitioners a measure of success in practice relates to how we are able to look after our patients, our work environment, collegiality and financial rewards.
Education related to procedures involving Dental Implants is available and easily accessible today. Modifying your scope of practice by incorporating new procedures or improving existing ones stimulates interest, presents challenges and variety in daily practice.
The standard of care that is provided to our patients for most procedures should be similar regardless of whether that care is provided by a General Practitioner or Specialist.
This program is designed for General Practitioners who have various levels of experience with Dental Implants. It will provide a perspective on how to prepare yourself as a practitioner to implement or improve your skills with this treatment modality.
The focus will be on the development of a realistic structured pathway to progress from the management of simple to more complex cases in a general practice setting and will include:
- Guidelines for acquisition of baseline knowledge in the subject
- Case selection and treatment planning protocols from simple to more complex cases
- Working at the Abutment Level
- Multidisciplinary management of cases
- Basic surgical skill requirements and a pathway to progress to surgical management
- Prosthetic and Surgical armamentarium
- Patient and staff management, preparing your practice and common “pressure points”
- Fee management and making Dental Implant Treatments cost effective for our patients
There will be a “Hands On” Prosthetic exercise “Working at the Abutment Level”
The discussion will include several implant systems available in Australia.
