Course Outline

This dinner course is designed to help dental practitioners improve their clinical knowledge on when to perform a traditional crown preparation and when to use a bonded approach.  The course will discuss the optimization of tooth preparation, material selection, and bonding protocols.

Course Topics

  • Ideal Conventional crown preparation – Reduction, taper, preparation, retentive features and margin design relating to restorative material.
  • Bonded crown preparation – Introduction to biomimetics and adhesive protocols, preparation design, IDS and DME
  • Conventional vs Bonded?  When to prep and when to bond
  • Material selection – Monolithic or Layers?  High performance polymers, pressed glass, zirconia, PFM, gold

    Dr Joshua Graieg

    Specialist Prosthodontist

    Dr Joshua Graieg is a Specialist Prosthodontist at the Brånemark Center in West Perth and Cottesloe Dental in Peppermint Grove. He completed a Bachelor in Dental Science from the University of Western Australia and a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics from the University of Sydney. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, a Consultant Prosthodontist with the Craniofacial Unit at Perth Children’s Hospital, and a Key Opinion Leader for Kerr / KaVo. His main interests are Biomimetic Dentistry, Aesthetic Dentistry, Minimally Invasive Prosthodontics, and both tooth and implant based Prosthodontic Rehabilitation.
