  Laurie is a leading international authority in the use of lasers in dentistry. He has used multiple lasers in his specialist clinical practice in special needs dentistry for over 25 years, and developed a number of innovative clinical methods for their use. Laurie has published extensively in the field of laser applications in hard and soft tissues in dentistry, and he holds patents in several laser-based technologies. He has been presenting laser training courses since 1992, and is an accredited trainer for medical staff and operating theatre technicians. His training courses are recognised by several bodies including Radiation Health Qld, the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Australian College of Nursing.
