Develop and enhance protocols to manage infection risks

This course is suitable for all members of the dental team. It will be of particular benefit to dentists, dental auxiliaries, dental prosthetists and dental assistants who have not undertaken a recent infection control course

Course overview

This one day course provides an overview of key areas in infection control in which there have been significant changes in recent years. The impact of the national guideline from ADA Inc, changes to the NHMRC and CDNA guidelines from 2010, and the national registration in July 2010 on infection control requirements will be a particular theme running through the day’s program.

    Professor Laurence Walsh

    BDSc (Hons) (Qld), DDSc (Qld), PhD (Qld), GCEd, FFOP (RCPA), FICD, FADI, FPFA, FIADFE

    Professor Walsh is a specialist in special needs dentistry who holds a personal chair in Dental Science at the University of Queensland. He is a clinically active specialist in special needs dentistry and has a particular clinical interest in medically compromised patients. Laurie has lectured nationally and internationally on issues with the provision of dental care to elderly and frail patients, and has contributed to the development of care protocols based on minimal intervention dentistry. Laurie has served as an infection control consultant to a range of government and private sector organisations.
