An introductory hands-on course by the Australasian Osseointegration Society Queensland Branch

Learning Objectives

  1.  Appreciate biological events during healing of extraction sockets
  2. Appreciate the benefit of minimally traumatic extraction when planning socket graft or implant procedure
  3.  Appreciate history and concept of guided bone regeneration and socket preservation techniques
  4.  Learn indications and limitation for socket preservation techniques
  5. Learn to choose appropriate biomaterials available for socket preservation procedures
  6. Practice socket preservation techniques for simple and complex extraction sockets on plastic models with non-sterile practice biomaterials
  7.  Practice suturing on plastic models
  8. Learn about common complications of socket preservation techniques and minor guided bone regeneration techniques
