Event Details

Modern implantology has proceeded to the point where a full arch of failing or missing teeth can be restored quickly and predictably with a fixed prosthesis which is supported by only 4 dental implants. The “All-on-Four®” concept was pioneered by Dr Malo more than 20 years ago, and has become a treatment protocol that is predictably employed on a very routine basis.

But is the classical concept the only way to restore full arches ?  Is the concept the best way or does it have some limitations ?

In this short presentation, Michael and Sid will discuss the modern day All-on-Four® concept and the evidence associated with its success, as well as some of its limitations. Alternative treatment concepts will be presented to provide the audience with an overview of other implant supported treatment protocols.

Dr Sid Kothari is a registered specialist prosthodontist working alongside Dr Michael Mandikos. After graduating, Sid spent a year in private practice in a country town in northern Queensland and three and a half years in public and private practice in Canberra. Always up for a challenge, he pursued a Master’s degree in Advanced Dentistry from the University of Sydney in 2015 – a course that involved both clinical work and a research component, for which he undertook three systematic reviews.

Equipped with the skills to read professional dental literature critically and apply that knowledge in clinical practice, as well as a hunger for more knowledge and the desire to gain and fine-tune additional clinical expertise, Sid enrolled at the University of Otago to study Prosthodontics. Sid started the program in 2017 on a prestigious Doctoral Scholarship, and his research project was on tooth bleaching. In 2019, Sid graduated from the program with a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry as a Prosthodontist (Specialist) and published four research articles in various journals which include the Journal of Dentistry. Along the way he also attained Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Prosthodontist). Upon graduating, Sid practiced as a specialist Prosthodontist in New Zealand (Palmerston North) before joining Brisbane Prosthodontics with Dr Michael Mandikos.

Sid enjoys teaching all areas of removable, fixed and implant prosthodontics. He taught in the undergraduate program at the University of Otago and has been invited to speak at a number of CPD events in New Zealand and Australia.
